14 - 21 February: "Woods and Words" Week @ Upton Country Park

Come and join us at Upton Country Park for our creative writing week during February half term!

The Story Works is offering lots of creative activities and workshops for all ages: 

  • Open daily 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Discover our free Poem Trail, collect your inspirations and create your own poem or short story to add to our Poet-Tree at the end of the trail.
  • Monday, 16 February – Come and meet our Writer in Residence from The Story Works, Baz Lewis, at his Free Poems Stall in Upton House and he will write a bespoke poem just for you, about anything you’d like, for free!
  • Tuesday, 17 February, 12:30 – 2:30 PM – Attend our free Youth Nature Writer’s Workshop (for ages 12-16), led by Baz Lewis. Explore your imagination and discover how to express yourself and write about the things that really matter to you. Spaces are free but limited, learn more and register here.
  • Wednesday & Thursday, 18 – 19 February, 12:30 – 2:30 PM – Join us for our free Storymaker Workshop (for ages 7-11) with The Story Works. Come together to create your story and receive your writing in your own illustrated booklet. Spaces are free but limited, learn more and register here.
  • Friday, 20 February, 2:30 – 5:40 PM and 6:00 – 8:30 PM – Explore your creative side with our Nature Writing Workshop for creative writers aged 17+. Suitable for beginners and experienced writers alike, our Writer in Residence, Baz Lewis, will show you how you can make your creative writing exciting, engaging, and utterly unique. Afterwards, invite your family and friends along to our Spoken Word Open Mic Night ! You can perform your own new poem or relax and enjoy other writers performing their work. Options to include a light supper available. Spaces are limited, learn more and book here.
