30 August: The Story works @ Increase the peace

Increase the Peace

This 30th August, Boscombe High Street bursts into colour for the Increase the Peace Festival — a day of music, art, and community spirit celebrating creativity in every form. Amid the rhythm of live bands, street performances, and vibrant workshops, you’ll find The Story Works bringing imagination to life!

Comic Workshop (Ages 7–14): Join our team of artists and storytellers to create your own micro‑comic book. Through playful drawing and storytelling exercises, you’ll craft a pocket‑sized comic that’s entirely yours — from first sketch to finished story.

Creative Writing for Adults: Later in the day, step into our relaxed writing space and explore how words can connect, heal, and inspire. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just curious, this workshop invites you to experiment and express your voice in new ways.

The festival runs from 10 AM to 11:30 PM, filling Boscombe with music, dance, theatre, and community energy. Come along, make something beautiful, and help keep the peace alive through art!

The Story Works is excited to return to this year’s Bite‑Sized Festivals by Arts by the Sea — a series of joyful community days filled with creativity, performances and family fun right in your local neighbourhood. Wander over to our stand and dive into a world of imagination: craft your own story, explore playful prompts, or simply let your creativity roam free with our mix of fun activities.

After the bite‑sized festivals, the adventure continues at the Arts by the Sea Festival in Bournemouth! This September, wander into the Bournemouth Gardens on Saturday, 26th September, and you’ll find us beneath our cheerful Story Works Gazebo — a haven for imagination and creativity. Step inside, take part in our ever‑changing activities, and craft a tale that’s entirely your own.

Dream up a story or comic about anything that sparks your imagination, drop your masterpiece into our giant glass bottle of stories to enter our Story Writing Competition and you could win a special prize!
